Miss Lucille D. Goyette
March 12, 2014

Miss Lucille D. Goyette, 96, of Lincoln, died Wednesday, March 12, 2014 in Trinity Health and Rehab Center, Woonsocket.

Lucille was born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late Dominique and Maria (Tanguay). She lived in Pawtucket, moved to Cumberland in 1984 and then to Lincoln nearly 25 years ago. She worked in the textile industry for many years and retired in 1984.

She is survived by a niece, Denise M. Rioux and her husband Robert of Cumberland; her beloved grandnephew Nicolas R. Rioux and his wife Jessica of Boca Raton, Florida; her beloved grandnephew Christopher Rioux of Cumberland and his fiancée Lauren Hamel; and many other nieces and nephews. Lucille was pre-deceased by three brothers, Gerard, Armand and Albert Goyette and three sisters, Jeanne Menard, Noella Bouchard and Yvette Poirier.

"Aunt Lu" was always a doting aunt to Nick and Chris but she also became a surrogate grandmother, confidant and "best" friend to them after the early deaths of their maternal and paternal grandparents. She was extremely generous with her time and love and she was cherished as a greatly loved member of their nuclear family. Aunt Lu was always present on holidays, special events, school activities and just whenever.

She loved to play cards, board games. Street hockey, drive the guys around, treat out for lunch and was always available for visits and serious talks as the boys grew older.

Lucille loved her independence and continued to drive until she reached the age of 93. She was able to live independently until her health began to fail at the age of 95.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday March 18 at The Historic St. Joseph Church, 1303 Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial will be private.
