Rose L. Messier

Rose L. Messier, was born in Central Falls, RI on July 13, 1927 to the late Alphee "Leo" Bonin and Clara (Nolin) Bonin. She resided in Central Falls all her life before going to the Village at Waterman Lake and then to the St. Antoine Residence.

She was married to the late Roland E. Messier May 22, 1948. He was the owner of the former Messier's Pharmacy in Central Falls, and she was vice president of that business. Rose was a homemaker who had many friends and was active as a volunteer at Pawtucket Memorial Hospital and Notre Dame Hospital. She was a Girl Scout leader for a number of years as well as Girl Scout Cookie Chairman.

Rose was an avid league bowler and enjoyed skiing with her family at King Pine Ski Resort in New Hampshire, where she and Roland had a home. She was a member of the Bermuda Club, the Pawtucket Country Club, and a communicant of the former Notre Dame Church in Central Falls. Rose loved reading, especially murder mysteries. She was talented at crochet, knitting and quilting, making many beautiful items.

Rose is survived by her seven children, Laura C. Messier of North Providence, Suzanne Goetz and husband Michael of Manville, Jeannine Peterson and husband Robert of Greenville, Henry J. Messier III and wife Susan of Riverside, Margaret Siassi and husband Alan of Boynton Beach, FL, Philip Messier, and Denise Reynolds and husband Larry of Woonsocket. She has eighteen grandchildren: Jennifer Skinner; Sarah and Michelle Goetz; Aaron and Nathan Reynolds; Elise and Laura R. Messier; Maxwell, Neal, Benjamin and Hannah Messier; Daniel and Elizabeth Siassi; Adam, Josh and Jake Peterson and Maya and Andre Messier. She also has three great-grandchildren, Maya and Henry Reynolds, and Owen Christian.

Rose was the sister of the late Adrienne Laneres, and of Loretta Graveline of Florida, Robert Bonin of Central Falls, and Lorraine Wallace of Vero Beach, FL.

A Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 am at St. Antoine Residence, 10 Rhodes Ave., N. Smithfield. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket. Calling hours are Monday evening from 5-8 at Lincoln Funeral Home, 1501 Lonsdale Ave., Lincoln.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Rose’s memory to St. Antoine Residence would be appreciated.
