Gloria (Harkness) Bessette, 89, of Central Falls died peacefully on August 19, 2014 at Kindred Transitional Health and Rehab Center in Pawtucket, RI.  She was the wife of the late Gerard J. Bessette. Born in Central Falls, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Marie (Vachon) Harkness.
 
Gloria is survived by her two sons, GerardJ. Bessette Jr. of Warwick and Robert F. Bessette of Pawtucket; three grandchildren, Jonathan, Kathryn and Jennifer-Lynn Bessette and one great grandchild, Jonathan Martin Bessette. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Denise Bessette-Tremblay and the sister of the late Norman “Sonny” Harkness.
 
Gloria was a ray of sunshine to all who knew her and always had a smile on her face.  She spent much of her life devoted to others and in her later life caring for her grandchildren after the death of her daughter-in-law Alyce (Meunier) Bessette. Most people knew her as “Memere” because she just was that loving to all.
 
Her funeral will be on Friday at 8:45 am from Lincoln Funeral Home, 1501 Lonsdale Ave., Lincoln with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St Jude Church, Front St., Lincoln.  Calling hours are Thursday evening from 5-8 pm.
