Shirley A. Gardner, 77, of Lincoln, died Monday, May 4th at St. Antoine Residence, North Smithfield.  She was the wife of the late George E. Gardner.  

Born in Lincoln, she was the daughter of the late David H. and Gertrude (Souza) Nunes.

Shirley retired from her employment as a cashier for Stop & Shop Stores.  She was previously employed as a supervisor for Newport Textile as a warehouse worker for AT Cross Co.  She had been a member of the Filibuster Club and AARP and had been a volunteer at Bear Hill Residence.

She is survived by her son David E. Gardner and his wife Susan of Oak Hill, VA; her daughter Lisa M. Gardner of Woonsocket; brothers Mario H. Nunes of Lincoln and Joseph D. Nunes of North Providence and grandson Devin Gardner of Oak Hill, VA.

Her funeral will be held on Monday at 8:45 am from the Lincoln Funeral Home, 1501 Lonsdale Ave., Lincoln followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Joseph Church, Mendon Rd., Cumberland.  Burial will be in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 6-8pm.
