Cynthia M. Bessette, 56, of Cumberland, died Thursday, May 28 at home. She was the wife of Robert Bessette. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Normand and Bernadette (Sorel) Belanger.

Mrs. Bessette had previously worked as a realtor for various real estate agents around the state, earning several sales accolades and awards for her career, and was a paralegal for the Law Offices of Glenn A. Andreoni – Attorney At-Law. In 2013, Mrs. Bessette graduated with a juris doctor from Roger Williams University School of Law and worked for the Law Office of Orlando A. Andreoni.

Mrs. Bessette was very active within the community. She was the fourth-grade theater director at both Ashton Elementary School in Cumberland and Community School in Cumberland, helping produce an array of plays for over a decade. Mrs. Bessette was also a local Girl Scout troop leader and was a volunteer bowling coach for the junior programs at both North Bowl Lanes in North Attleboro, Mass., and East Providence Lanes.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Bessette is also survived by her son, James R. Bessette of Cumberland; her daughter, Rebecca R. Bessette of Cumberland; brothers Gregory Belanger of Wakefield and Peter Belanger of Lincoln; sister Celeste Craven of Burrillville and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 2 at 10 a.m. at St. Aidan Church, 1460 Diamond Hill Road. Burial will be at Mount St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Providence. Calling hours are Monday, June 1 from 4-8 p.m. at Lincoln Funeral Home, 1501 Lonsdale Ave., Lincoln.
