J. Gerald "Gerry" Laliberte, 91, of Cumberland, died Sunday, March 12, 2017. He was the husband of Loretta (Papineau) Laliberte and the late Solange “Sally” (Carpentier) Laliberte.

Born in Central Falls, he was a son of the late Donat and Rose Ella (Lebouef) Laliberte.

Mr. Laliberte was the owner of the former Laliberte Furniture in Woonsocket. Later, he was employed as the City of Central Falls Building Inspector for 17 years.

He was a World War II veteran of the Merchant Marines. Gerry loved working with wood and created many beautiful pieces of furniture which he gave away as gifts. He was a member of the People of God’s Love Community.

In addition to his wife Loretta, he is survived by his sons Ronald Laliberte of North Providence, Robert Oakley of Montana, Robert Lefort of Blackstone, MA and Ronald Lefort of Woonsocket; his daughters Christine Boland of North Providence, Gloria Phillips of Johnston and Gail Oakley Pratt of CT; his brother Raymond Laliberte of CT; his sisters Jeanne Rocheleau of Central Falls and Therese Laliberte of Canada; 17 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  He was the brother of the late Roland and Andre Laliberte, Alice Fontaine and Rita Pion.

His funeral and burial will be private.
